The Volksbox Web Edition+ is the most advanced model of the Volksbox HD+ series. It is a hybrid receiver with embedded Nagravision CAS and PRM and is fully compliant with HD+ requirements supporting HD+ SmartTV portal and the HD+ Replay catch-up TV services.

 

The Volksbox Web Edition+ connects to the internet over a built-in WiFi or Ethernet connection providing consumers with access to HD+ SmartTV portal containing a large number of applications for attractive online services covering sports, entertainment, music, information and social networks including football magazine Kicker, TV guide TV Movie, news and current affairs from Bild.de, catch-up TV from Arte and cinema news from Kino.de, YouTube, and weather forecasts to name a few. The Volksbox Web Edition+ also supports the HbbTV standard and HD+ Replay allowing consumers in Germany to benefit from catch-up TV programs, advanced interactive features and new content made available online or over the air by leading German broadcasters. The Volksbox Web Edition+ is a certified SAT>IP Client, allowing users to stream live free-to-air or HD+ pay TV programs from any SAT>IP compatible Server device connected over the same home network. This provides a simple and quick multi-room deployment over the home LAN allowing access to satellite TV even when there is no satellite RF cable available in the room. In addition to applications available on the HD+SmartTV portal the Volksbox Web Edition+ allows users to freely browse the web and have their own search for online content. Surfing the internet with a remote keyboard and mouse

Your Volksbox receiver can connect to most of the remote home entertainment keyboards available on the market. Many of these stylish keyboards incorporate a touch pad or a trackball and provide excellent ergonomics, making web surfing from the couch easy and convenient. Typically, these keyboards are wireless and supplied with a small USB RF transceiver that you would need to connect to the USB port on the rear panel of your Volksbox.

Frequently Asked Questions
How to move channels and edit Favourite lists?
Under TV/Radio entry of the Main Menu, select ‘List Manager’. Select the Favourite list you would like to edit (eg My Favourite). The next screen will display the Main list on the left side and the Favourite list on the right side. Use the Up/Down keys to navigate to the channel you want to move from the Main list to the Favourite list, Mark the channel by pressing the Green button (if you wish to move a block of channels, Press OK to move the channel to the Favourite list. If you want to re-order the channels inside the Favourite list, press the Right/Left keys to switch to/from the Favourite list. When on the Favourite list, use the Up/Down keys to navigate to the channel you want to move, Mark the channel by pressing the Green button (if you wish to move a block of subsequent channels, use the Up/Down keys to mark more channels) and press Green again. Use the Up/Down keys to mark the new location of the channel you selected and press OK to move it to the new position.
How to close the web browser?
While browsing a webpage, press the Exit key on the RCU. A top banner will be displayed. Use the Left/Right keys to go to the red shutdown icon and press OK to shutdown the browser.
Is Flash content supported by the web browser?
The web browser embedded in your Volksbox receiver is compatible with HTML5 and CE-HTML and its video player supports the standard MPEG2/MPEG4 audio/video formats. Web content that is provided in Flash format is not supported and may result in an error pop up message suggesting to install a Flash plug-in however such plug-in installation is not available for the Volksbox receiver due to the strict security requirements.

How to change the EPG font size?
You can select between small and large EPG font size in Menu -> Control Panel -> User Preferences -> User interface.
Can I select the USB keyboard layout (QWERTY or QWERTZ)?
You can select different USB keyboard layouts in Menu -> Control Panel -> Browser -> USB keyboard layout (only IDL 665Xn).
How can I switch off the USB hard drive during standby mode?
You can disable the USB power in standby in Menu -> Control panel -> Recording. In case a recording is scheduled, the USB power will switch on one minute before the recording starts and it will switch off after the recording is finished.
Note: In case you encounter problem with scheduled recording in standby, you should leave the USB power active
Which video resolutions are supported by the Inverto Volksbox?
The receiver is able to up or down convert all content to 576i/p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p. The resolution can be changed by the „V format“ key on the remote control or by the interactive info banner.
When I program a recording I miss sometimes the beginning/end of the movie.
The TV channel provides the EPG data which is almost correct, but from time to time a movie starts a bit earlier/later and the receiver will miss a part. To protect against such problems go to the Menu -> Control Panel -> Recording, here you can adjust the start and stop guard time
Is it possible to format a connected USB hard disk?
Access the hard disk on the set top box and go to the root (press „0“ or use „folder up“). Select the Hard disk or partition that you want to format. Press the red key and select the preferred files system. For security the receiver PIN code has to be entered. It is „0000“ by default. The formatting of the hard disk will start now, it can take some time depending of the size of the device.
How can I update the software of my Volksbox using a USB stick?
For the update you need: USB storage (stick or hard disk) Current firmware file (idl5k.bin) from www.inverto.tv Update: Copy the software on the USB storage (the file has to be in the root folder and no other firmware file shall be stored on the USB storage) Power down the receiver with the main switch (rear side) Connect the USB storage Power up the receiver while holding the "+" key on the front panel The display should show „Loader“ and then „LOAD“ The update is now done automatically You can check the progress on the connected TV.

Remark: Do not power off the receiver while doing the update! To benefit from new channel list and new functions, we recommend you to perform a factory reset after the software update.
Which files systems are supported on an external hard disk drive?
The following file systems are supported: FAT16, FAT32, EXT2, EXT3, NTFS Due to the limitation of some file systems, recordings bigger than 1.5 GB are split. In the library the recording is still presented as one file to the user.
What is the advantage of HD+?
HD+ offers attractive new HD content, which has not been available so far and would not have been available in the foreseeable future without HD+. HD+ is a pure complement to the existing Free-To-Air services over satellite, which will continue to exist.
What the cost of the HD+ service?
You can use the HD+ content for one year without additional cost, by buying an HD+ receiver, a CI-Plus Module or a CI Module. After the first year you can decide, whether you want to continue to use HD+. In this case there is a service fee of 50 Euro for one year. No contract obligation, registration or subscription is necessary.
What do I need in order to receive HD+?
Requirements are: a satellite receiver (+ satellite dish), an HD enabled TV (HD ready / Full HD) and a HD+ receiver or a HD+ capable device. In order to receive the HD+ channels, you will need an HD+ smart card. The transmission is carried out over ASTRA satellite only. The HD+ services are 12 Months free without commitment.
Are new HD+ channels coming soon?
HD+ is working to add more stations. We are currently under discussions in order to further expand our attractive offer to you.
What is the format in which HD+ channels are broadcasted?
HD+ Stations are broadcasted in 1080i. The high resolution of 1080i offers high value content, such as Movies and quality TV series. My Receiver can not be turned on, there is no power.
 
• Check if the power cord is properly connected to the socket and the receiver.
 
• Make sure that the main switch on the back of the box is switched on.
Why the TV does not display a picture?

Scart:

• Make sure that the scart cable is connected to the TV and your box.

• Your TV must be switched to the correct input (consult the User Manual of your TV). Also the signal type must be chosen in order to work with your TV.

 

HDMI:

• Make sure that the HDMI cable is connected to the TV and your box.

• Your TV must be switched to the correct input (consult the User Manual of your TV).

• Check if the resolution which is set for HDMI can be displayed by your TV, use “V format” button to switch the resolution.

I have a good picture, but no sound.

• Ensure that “Mute” have not been accidently activated on your box.

• Control the volume on your box and on the TV.

HDMI: In case of no sound make sure that your TV is able to decode AC3 bit stream, if not open the “Audio/Video Setting” Menu and change “Digital Audio Out” to “Stereo”

Remote control does not work anymore.

• Check if the batteries are correctly inserted inside the remote control and not discharged.

• Point the remote control directly to the TV

• Ensure that there is nothing in between your box and the remote control.

• Other devices which are very close to the box and bright daylight could affect the reception of the signal

I want to know the proper code to operate my receiver with universal remote control.
This is a question that can not be answered from our site. There is no general code which works for all universal remote controls. To know which code you have to program, consult the user manual of your universal remote.
